Default HIGH PITCHED WHINE FROM BLOWER FAN

I have a high pitched whine coming from the blower when you have it on any setting. I called the dealership and they mentioned it being some sort of transformer that was expensive to replace. As soon as I turn the blower off and it stops running the whine goes away. Does anyone have any information about this, how much the part is, or to replace it? If you have the radio on its fine it drowns it out, otherwise its very annoying.

Thanks!

Sounds like the bearings in the blower are shot. or the blower motor is going? What year and model do you own?

A little too new for the blower motor or fan bearings to go, but anything is possible I guess. As far as a transformer, I have no clue. I looked at the parts list for my 99 C280 HVAC and I didn't spot a transformer, or at least that word to describe a part. But that means nothing as systems are changed over the years. Also I assume the noise is coming from inside the car?
