flip key problem
Hello guys,
I am a new member and I have a problem with my flip key,
My car is a 1997 C200K, the red light in the key some times does not work, and of course when it does not work I can’t open the car unless I use the blade key, I also think it is using a lot of batteries, recently am changing them every 2 weeks,
I think some thing is broken inside, is it o=possible to open the flip key and repair it??
Another question , when you open the car with the blade key only the drivers door open and when you start the car all the doors open, but how do you close all the doors?

RE: flip key problem
I actually had the same problem with my key. Apparently the red light does not need a battery from what i was told. Because i couldnt open my doors with the remote one time and i opened it and changed the batteries, little did i know i dropped one accidently so i assumed it needed just one battery instead of 2. when i called the MB dealership they advised me that i needed to come in and that they have to reprogram my key, which i personally thought was the biggest BS ever just because i wanted to change batteries then they opened it and realized i just needed a battery the funny thing was all this time without the one battery i could turn on my car but couldnt unlock it with the remote. and yes when you start the car it unlocks all doors sometimes even if you just unlock your side and as soon as you open the door the other doors unlock as well, but ones you start driving more than 10mph the doors lock on its own...or at least they should. Or just like the person above me mentioned there should be a button on that you press to lock and unlock your doors, it has like a picture of a key and a window I think dont take me for granted. Now be careful if you turn your car off and you just open your door it unlocks all the locks so if you just lock your door with the silver key then the other 3 remain unlocked so you have to make sure that your is open first then press the button to lock the other 3 and then close and lock the driver door. its a pain in the rear...and dont take me for granted to but thats how it was on my 01 c240. and when i went to check something out they did say the sensor for.. in which case you just called it the red laser... if it comes to the point where you have to change it ...it could be a happy close to $500 with hands so hopefully its not that. OK good luck
