Default First 30k miles, not bad

Well it has beenjust over 2 years since I drove the C230 out of the showroom and it finally went over 30k miles a few days ago. Several months ago we moved to NYC so we drive very little now. In fact the mileage shown on the trip counter below shows the total mileage driven over the last 4 months. Before moving here we'd normally drive that amount in 2 weeks or less. Anyway, in the last 28 months we've had one recall fixed regarding the drivers airbag, two regularly scheduled oil changes performed at MB dealerships (ripoff's) and only one unscheduled mechanical problem. The tension pulley for the serpentine belt failed around the first of Jan 2008 at approximately 29k miles, replaced under warranty by a MB dealer in Brooklyn. All said this has been a great car! Over the last 25k miles we've averaged 24.7mpg in mostly stop and go driving. Average speed has been less than 35mph. In fact our only complaint to date is since the birth of our 2nd child last November we've found the back seat to be a little tight for a rear facing child seat, but once she graduates to the forward facing seat I'm sure that will be resolved. The car continues to perform flawlessly but I'm sure some routine wear items will need to be replaced soon, like brake pads.

Averages over the last 25k miles. Obviously I don't do a lot of hwy driving since my average speed has been less than 35mph.

Where do you keep it in NYC? My daughter is moving there from New Jersey and she has pretty much decided to sell her beloved Mini and become and autoless person. She reckons she will save a bundle!

I'm on a national park on Staten Island. The only time I have to drive anymore is if I'm going shopping. It is .8 of a mile door to door from my house to my office. So much for commuting.
