Hello..

i have a problem on my 1994 C180 Mercedes Esprit Model. The engine goes off when the fuel indicator is only half tank.
i allways have to add more petrol in order to turn on the engine.
please, some one can help on any comments or sugestions?

check to see if your indicator is working properly, it might be indicating that the tank is empty when its pointing to the halfway mark.

 

hi there, and many ..many thanks for your reply. well, i beleave the indicator are working properly. because, to fill the tank from the halfway takes about 30Litres, since the fuel tank capacity are 62Litres. then, what happend to rest of the 31Litres??? i also have look under neath and seams to me that the car has 2 fuel thanks...

in your car there are 2 fuel level sensor under the car. 1 might be sticking causing the car to read 1/2 tank when it is empty. OR since the tank is a hump setup it could be that the fuel pump is going out casuing only half of the tank to provide fuel. the fuel pump is used todraw a siphon to drain both side of the tank.

 

thank you for your comment. should we conclude that the problem may be on the fuel pump?
