I’m having a strange issue with the driving mode selector in my 2013 c250 w204. Sometimes it switches modes and sometimes it doesn’t.

I’m not sure exactly what the button is called but I’m referring to the button located underneath the D on the gear selector. It has three options: Eco?, Sport, and Manual.

The car defaults to E but when I press the button it won’t change into Sport or Manual.

It honestly seems random whether or not the button will work and regardless of what I try: pressing, holding, restarting the car, etc. it makes no difference and will not change.

Sometimes it works perfect and happily changes between modes with the letter changing on the dash and other times it stays stuck.

If anyone could offer me any help or info I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Go to the dealer and get a replacement switch. Remove the center trim that shows the shift letters and you will find the button/switch underneath. Your switch is probably full of dirt and needs replaced.
