I have a 2002 C320, recently had an oil over service light, went to the engine compartment, pulled the t handel i thought was the dip stick at the back nothing attached, is this normal?

checking oil level is done from inst cluster.

your engine oil capacity is 8 liters (filter change).

 

Thanks, I have been a wrench head for 30 years, bought this car new and had factory service until warranty expiration. Had the oil changed at a Firestone place and 700 miles later get this too much oil message. Look at the manual and it said dip stick located at rear of engine, pull out the handel nothing there, was beginning to beleive some how it came loose and had dropped down the tube. So I guess i have nothing to worry about.
