Did I just SCREW UP??????

RE: Did I just SCREW UP??????
The car might be a buyback simply because of small transmission and AC problems combined with unqualified mechanic.
Few years ago I bought 83 tdt very cheap, because the owner in Louisiana in 2 years of ownership spend $2100 for AC repairs (+another 2 grands for other repairs) and the AC still didn't work. Big city Baton Rouge had only one MB shop and they have been ripping customer off with no mercy.
Than we placed order for ML in the first year it hit the US market. Those, who have been watching the reports might remember lot of bad wrap about those cars.
Shortly after my friend bought Nissan Pathfinder and we shared driving on different ski trips. Nissan was noisy, non-comfortable, bottoming up on freeway holes, burning much more gas and so on. But nobody complained about Nissan, when Mercedes reviews had lot of black marks.
What I figured out was, that kicking the door close on Nissan is considered normal, when need for using 3 fingers to close door on Mercedes is reason for complain. DIFFERENT EXPECTATIONS.
So don't loose you heart for the car gheyland. You might experience some problems with the car, but you are in the right court.
Just in case you don't trust your parents.

The car has a salvage title. That means it was considered worthless at some point for some reason. In this case, it wasn't little problems that led to a buyback. Something major happened.

How do you know it has a "salvage" title?
It seems odd (though anything is possible, I guess) that an MB dealer would be selling a car with a "salvage" title and offer a 6 year bumper to bumper manufactures warranty.
