Dash cluster clock dim
The clock illumination on my '99 C280 dash stays in the dim green mode; if that is a mode and not just light spillage from other indicators.
When I got the car a month ago the clock was dim green. I searched in vain for a dial, button or **** to brighten it up. Then I changed the dome light postition and presto, the clock went bright orange like the rest of the dash indicators. I didn't see the logic, but assumed that was the way MB set it up. Wrong conclusion. Yesterday, she went back to dim green.
Anybody else experience something like this? Do the indicator lights have separate bulbs (probably) How do I replace them?
Thanks

Thanks C280.
That's good info to know. I did find some instructions on instrment panal removal. When you did it, did you buy the MB tools, or make do with something else? If something else--what?

I didnt purchase any tools to do this, it simply pops out.
i removed some of the panels from under my steering wheel and reached up and pushed from the back. u have to push hard tho.
then manuver it out past the stearing wheel. the plugs on the back are held on by this arm thingy which u fold up to pull out.
its like a quick latch sorta system youl figure it out when u see it.
i didnt purchase any new bulbs either im too cheap :-) i simply removed one from the bottom corner from a warning light which didnt have a picture and wasnt used in my model.
hope that helps.

My bulb must just be loose. If I give the dash a tap or two just below the clock display, it lights up. It's been on for several days now.
C280, thanks for the "how to".
BWT, since I'm more lazy than frugal, I'll probably replace all the bulbs once I get in there.

Yea i would recomend replacing all the bulbs at once to,
but when i did myne i had the dash out but then no vehicle to get to shop to purchase new bulbs so i did a quick fix, it isnt to hard to remove dash so il just wip it out next time and do it again. i also put some blue bulb condoms over my dash lights so the display + clock is now illuminated blue, nice change
