I emailed you Volunteer.

Also, yesterday when I was having a closer look at the problem, I saw this hose going into the valve ripped. I cut the ripped part and put it back and will wait if the check engine light comes back. I have high hopes because the other hose that was going into that same valve had the same ripped problem a year ago and when my tech guy replaced it, the light never came back. HOPEFULLY, the fix I did yesterday will solve the problem. If not, I will try your solution.

Thanks!

P.S. Last year I did not have one of those OBD readers so, I do not know what the code was but I assume it was P0410.

Here is the file (I am hosting it temporarily)

http://www.bencaputo.info/Misc/P0410.pdf

I'm not seeing that many vacuum lines, I must be blind...

I see that

002-140-55-60 is the shut off valve ($72)

I see that 002-140-68-60 is the check valve ($77).

I don't have a good picture/parts diagram of where the check valve is.

In the great PDF made by volunteer, I only see the shut off valve, not the check valve, pictured. However, he is holding a new check valve in the next picture, and had it installed by a mechanic.

Anyone? =)

It is still early to talk BUT, I think my problem is solved. Just a stupid rip on the hose! The rip was at the bottom so I had to take it out to see and I am glad I did! If the check engine light does not come back for few more days, I think I am good Fingers crossed!

Is there any way you could post a picture of the vacuum line, or show where it is using some one elses picture and a callout/highlight? I can't find vacuum lines (more than a few inches) for anything!

The hose that I replaced last year was the one with a yellow ring.

The one I put arrow is the one was ripped that I cut and put back last week.

BTW, the engine light STILL did not come back on!

Fingers still crossed

Like the thread title suggests, I have the M111 motor... will try to find similar lines.

Anyone know where the common vacuum lines are on there? I think I'll have to put on my wrench clothes and try really leaning in and following what few lines I find. Pics are welcome though!

I did not know 2002 C230K was different than 2003 C230K. Mine is 2003, sorry.

You are welcome for the photos.

phoenix_iii,
which vacuum lines are you trying to find? If we are talking about the lines for A.I.R. system, then they are visible on Photo 2 and 3 (thin plastic lines). Just ensure that vacuum is available when A.I.R system works.
If the vacuum is there, who cares where those thin lines coming from. :-)

Folks,

I also had a P0410 (Secondary Air Injection System Fault) on my 2002 SLK 230 (55,000 miles). It was the 002-140-68-60 Check Valve which blows air on the catalytic converter when the engine is cold.

I don't know how to attach a picture, so you can find it here instead:
http://home.comcast.net/%7Ehoeren/Di...k_Engine_P0410

It was a nasty problem getting the old valve out. It's threaded into a stainless steel pipe and has a 27mm nut on the bottom. The nut requires an extra thin open-end wrench. I ended up sawing off the old valve, so that I could unscrew it with a socket from the top.
