Default CD problems

Hi, when driving with the car, suddenly the cd stops playing, the sound disappears and the counter is running. When changing to the radio, the sound is good, changing to cd, nothing happens

Any ideas what's wrong. Bought the car second hand.

Default CD problems

I have had problems with my changer as well , when I hit the cd button it just said empty on the display. I ejected the cartridge and put it back in. Still nothing, a couple days later it just worked again??? Kind of quirky. I also have intermittant problems with the quality of reception on the receiver as well. Another problem that I had was that the auto volume adjustment depending on road noise did not work worth a crap. I had the shop turn that "Feature" off for me.

I have a question for the person that was having problems with the cd changer displaying empty. What was done to fix that and has it ever happen again. I have a C280 that is doing the same thing and I don't have a clue on how to fix it.

I've had problems with my changer twice now (2002 C320 sedan). Both times, the changer said that the CD magazine was empty (even though it wasn't). My dealer said that Mercedes Benz recommends replacing the changer when that happens, so I've had mine replaced each time. There's no cost involved, but it's a bit of a pain to be without my car while they switch out changers.

Does anyone know if a new changer is available that will work with the Cs?

Now did they replace it for free because it fell into the catagory of a recall for thecar or is it your warranty that covered it. My car is a '99 and its warranty has expired. I hopeit is a recall so I can finally get rid of my CD walkman.

I have the same probelm with my 99 CLK 320, it shows "Magazine Empty", don't know who can fix this problem. I am checking on ebay to get a new one, it's looks very easy to get it replaced.

Had similar problems with "CD Empty" on my C280. So opened the trunk, turned the dial on the CD Changer box to get the 12 disc pack out. Realized there was this mechanical CD retriever moving inside the changer, the empty space opposite from the 12 disc pack. Thought maybe some kind of mechanical malfunction so sprayed just a little bit of CRC-556 (penetrant) and it seemed to do the trick. Could be simple dust paticles causing poor electrical connections? Can't guarantee a 100% fix here but thought some of you may want to try it out. At least a reasonable attempt before spending to change the whole pack! Mine is back to it's expected normal state and working fine ever since!
