Can someone please inform me as to why its good to wash your car in the winter? I am a younger driver, and I need some factual reasoning as to why it should be done.
Thanks

You live in PA? Probably the best reason is because they put salt on the roads in the winter in PA. Salt causes corrosion. Washing removes it. Be sure to rinse the undercarriage with plenty of clean water if you're washing at home. Most auto car washes rinse the undercarriage.

I'm with Lugnut on this, Here in Europe roads are salted right through winter and it destroys the paint and then rots metal work.
Wash, Wash, Wash - I know it's a pain but it makes people think you care about your ride. Wax it if you have the time, makes for less washing!! n gives a little BLING to the look.![EEK!](https://mercedesforum.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)

Bling... now thats what I'm talking about!
Even stock wheels look extra sweet and when you roll-up clean and everyone else has the dirty ride.
Winter is when you can really tell if people care about their ride.

I always wash my car every week during summer and 2 weeks during winter, or at least rinse it off during the winter time, or else the dirt will build up and make it hard to clean later on, not to mention what everyone else mentioned above.. and stated above, nothing like rollin up fresh & clean, even when you're all stock.

I always wash by hand but in the winter I got to a DIY car wash where for $2 I can spray the car with a jet of soapy water then rinse off. The only drawback is that the water is recycled so I keep the wash to a minimun. At least this way I can spray out the wheel wells & most of the under carriage with a pressure washer.
Come to think of it I should buy my own damn pressure washer - Any suggestions?

I would only suggest the pressure isn't too high. In fact, just your hose with a spray attachment is more than enough pressure.
I saw a hose attachment somewhere that was a metal tube about 5 feet long. There was a spray head at the end and two wheels. You hook up the other end to a hose and roll it under the car to rinse the undercarriage. I can't remember where I saw it, though. Maybe Harbor Freight?
