C280 Problems (A/C and Stereo)
Hi-
I own a '99 C280 and had been away for the whole summer, thus not having used. By the time I returned, apart from a flat tire, the battery wsa dead. After replacing it though, there've been problems with the car that I've never encountered before. Namely, the A/C blows hot which is problem no. 1 at this point considering the heat in L.A. I took the car into my mechanic thinking it was merely freion but he told me that wasn't the case and instead the fan that blows the A/C was not functioning. The second problem is that the stereo has been finnicky and buttons only work about half the time. Sometimes they even function as other buttons on the dial. In any case, I'm hoping that these problems might be related and that there could be an easy way to solve them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards-

Confused. If the fan is blowing hot air, then the Heating/AC system fan is working. I don't find two fans for the system in my manual.
Was your radio working well prior to the battery loosing it's charge?
Did you put in the proper CODE when you fired up the radio?

I agree with RockSolid on the radio. I have a 1999 C280 sport and I just recently had AC issues but you are not going to like this answer. Mine started blowing hot air. I took mine in thinking it just needed to be recharged. I had heard that when the freon charge is low the compressor shuts off. Turns out the compressor failed. The tech was good about it, showed me where the "dye" he was using to find the leak was coming out. But basically these things are freakn expensive, like $1000 for the part. Hope yours is something else.
