C280 Automatic - Factory Reset

C280 Automatic - Factory Reset
I added a CAI intake to my car, and at 3K RPM there is a noticeable increase in acceleration and torque. If you have the 5 speed electronic tranny. Have is reset back to factory default and as it is self programming by driver input. select 4th (sport mode) and drive the car the way you want it to shift and downshift. It takes a while for the adjustments to "take." Then do the same with D. These two modes made my car a much better performing car then stock.
1. Remove + battery terminal for 30 minutes.
2. Reconnect and drive in 4th (sport mode) until car adjusts.
Seems easy enough. I have the tiptronic shifter in my car... should I shift manually during the 'learning period'? If not, how do you "drive the car the way you want it to shift and downshift"???
If I want quicker performance, do I just mash the car around (start and stop a lot) until it adjusts or just cruise normally? I'm not sure how to get what I want in terms of performance.
Any advice on how this factory reset thing works is appreciated!

I've never tried it myself, but this is the technique I read about.
Resetting the transmission ECU..Ive tried it and it works.
You can reset the adaptation YOURSELF.
IF you follow this procedure the trans WILL re-learn!
ALL shifts must happen below 1900 RPM!!!
Select 1st gear & slowly accelerate thru the gears upto 5th & then coast back to a stop.
DO that 4 times & then let the car sit at idle for 10 minutes! After idling for 10 minutes shut off for 1 minute.
AT that point the trans adaptation should take place.
Note: Problem is you need a very long stretch with little or no traffic to accomplish this-that's why I've never tried it.

doing it at night on a highway is good.
but you need to reset the existing adaptation first before doing new one.

RE: C280 Automatic - Factory Reset
there is already a stored values inside the memory of ETC control unit.
those are the values of shifting pattern, filling of clutches time and torque, up and downshifts, etc. about more than 16 values.
some of them are not even or have large difference, and that's where you can feel some shifts which is not so smooth.
using computer under adaptation menu... it can be erased, and will go back to zero values.
