Default c240 blend air flap???

Ok so I just took my 2001 C240 to have someone take a look at it and they say its the blend air flap that is going to cost 500 to fix..? What has been happening for the last few months is that if you open up the center console while pressing on the gas or while you are coasting there is a ticking noise (almost like the sound of a ticking of a bomb for a better audio sense) although it does it like 90% of the time. Then...just recently i can turn on my cars AC or heater on 6 (full blast) and it will shoot full speed out of the top vents then make a popping noise and focus all its hair on the feet vents when it is only supposed to be coming out of the top and it will do that fora few minutes and then blow most of its air out of the feet without the popping noise for the duration the car is on. once it is restarted it starts its cycle over again.. I was told by another mechanic that it was because i needed a new blower motor.. please help! any info would be appreciated. are any of these things easily fixed by your average jane or joe with some knowledge of cars or should we leave it to the pros?

the MB shop will be able to tell exactly which flap is faulty. if you installed one yourself you then have to go to the dealer to synchronize the flap with the other flaps.

the only place I could say would be the dealer. do you know how to install it yourself or are you gonna have the dealer do it?? it takes maybe 1 minute to install.

open cupholder remove rubber mat at bottom of cupholder, pull up firmly on the cupholder.....try to grab towards the bottom when pulling up on the cupholder, can break sometimes ifyour not careful.. it will pop up about half an inch then twist the cupholder clockwise and it will come out.
