I have a couple problems with your query.
First and foremost are you talking about a Coupe or the Sedan? Also
what equipment? Automatic or manual, etc. That will help to price the
vehicle.
According to Edmunds a 2005 C230 Sedan with Auto and Moonroof with 20k
miles is $25k Certified, $22 Private Party. According to those numbers your
seller is high and the $900 shipping charge hurts too.
That being said I have a Granite Gray '06 C230 Sport and it IS a fantastic
looking machine!
If it were me I would do a bunch of research including pricing the car
on Edmunds, KBB, etc and present this data to the seller. If all your data
says $23k ask him to enlighten you as to how he priced/valued the car at
$26k.
That is where to start negotiations, IMO.
Also the seller needs to recognize that when selling a 2 year old car he is
going to eat alot of depreciation. You can buy a new '06 C230 Sport all day
for about $31k. '06 Zero miles.

Thanks no_mo_bmw, hope your transmission is running smooth now (after the intermittent hard downshift u had a while back) .. the car as u expected, AUTO sedan, and the guy is actually a dealer, so his figure matches 'a little bit' KBB (didnt try Edmunds yet) or even a little better, The car looks 'fantastic' .. i just love this color, but again, the car has been on sale for a while and it is a long distance purchase ..
tell u the truth, there are many cars now for sale 2006, but somehow i wanna get the kompressor, i feel it is a better, MPG (how is yours now) ..what do u think
here is the link for the car

RE: C230 2005 Gray Granite 20k miles
My mileage is so-so. I drive some freeway some surface streets in a suburb of Los Angeles. I get about 24 MPG in the MBZ. The car I had before, the '97 BMW 318is got about 28 MPG, my faithful Miata which I drive about 80% of the time gets about 26.
I was coming off 2 BMW 318's. I was not about to buy yet another 4 Banger sedan with the underdog engine - even if it was Supercharged and had the same power as the small six. I was ready for the luxury of six cylinders.
I also was happy to get a '06 due to the poor rep. of the earlier cars. Sure I may be hoping that the problems are fixed
or reduced on the '06's - but at least I have hope!
Granite Gray rocks!
