Buying a 2001-2002 C240, need help!
I've been looking at some C240's lately in an attempt to buy one. But I must confess that this will be my first Mercedes and I don't know a whole lot about them. Is there anything I should know or any tips in buying one? Maybe a suggestion for a different model?

I don't like bad mouthing anything without personal experience, but I have seen some not so nice comments about them... You might want to check the Consumer Reviews from Edmunds, JD Power, etc. of that model/year. It was the beginning of that body style and it usually takes a little time to work out all of the bugs in a new model. Just a suggestion. I am not a fan of the 240 engine, the newer C230 engine is better, or just going with the 320 engine, or C55.... I read some of the reviews of the 2001 C240 and read about many electical problems. Obviously, you'll hear about the problems and it doesn't reflect all of them, but there have been a lot of electrical problems during the 2001+ models, but I am sure it is all covered under warranty, just make sure you get the optional extended warranty if you do.
Whatever you do, any car that has OVER 30K miles, make sure that ALL of the Fluids have been changed on a regular basis and that they changed the transmission, radiator, differential, etc. fluids at the 30K point and that oil was being changed often.. Otherwise, you could have a potential problem on your hands.
Good hunting.
