Burnt headlights x2

Burnt headlights x2
Hi everyone,
1994 c280: both headlights were replaced last year (one less than 6 months ago) (both are Sylvania XtraVision, I know, the cheapest) One burnt last week, replaced with same. This morning the other side burnt out. Both incidents happened as soon as I started the car in the morning.
Alternator was replaced about 15 months ago. Am I smelling electrical problem again with it? Anything I should check first before asking my mechanic?
Any help will be much appreciated.
KC

It's probably worth suspecting the bulbs themselves. Here in the UK the cheap bulbs last very little time at all. The best are bought from the dealer but make sure they are original equipment.
You should also check the output voltage of the alternator as well. A volt meter across the battery with the engine running should read about 14 volts.Much more than this will cause a bulb burn out situation and will eventually cook your electrics!
