2007 C230 Sport, Automatic
About two weeks ago, and while driving down the Highway in Houston Texas (oh, about 98 degrees outside) my A/C just stopped. It was not blowing at all. There was not even cool anything coming out of my vents. When I press the A/C button to turn the A/C off, then the blower starts to blow. If I depress the A/C button, the blower stops, and nothing comes out of the vents.
When I depress the Auto, both the Auto light and the A/C light comes on, and in a matter of seconds, the A/C is working again at high speed. I can then depress the Auto, and the A/C light remains on and the blower is blowing at the selected speed, again, A/C working. This can happen twice in one short city trip.
Does anyone have a fix?

My guess would be the blower regulator has bitten the dust. If the blower stops on both the manual and the auto modes, then it's the regulator. If it dies on the auto setting and starts back up again on the manual setting, then it's the temp sensor in the dash, which may or may not be obstructed with something. My '05 C230 has done this twice, both times it was the blower regulator....a part next to the blower up under the lower right side of the dash.
It's about a $200+ part depending on where you buy it. They are warrantied for a year usually. Add an hour's labor and there you go. Always diagnose, then repair. It could be something else, I don't really know, but that's what mine was. Hope this helps you out.

My 04 C230K has been having A/C issues. If I have the fan on high it is fine but say i put it on medium speed, the fan speed fluctuates to faster or slower. Seems like it can't find that balance. Well the other day I had it on high and the fan blower just died instantly. The only way I could get it back on was turning the car off then back on and it worked fine again. Well just now it died again and all the sudden I smelt burning and smoke starting coming from vents and around my dash area.
Can anyone please tell me what this may be causing this?? I did turn the fan back on and it was turning. Not sure what is going on.
Thanks
