Question 99 C280 Check engine light

MY car has given me no problems mechanically, it drives perfect, only thing is that the check engine light is stubborn and its getting on my nerves. I've taken it to my mechanic that has fixed all my cars and he cant find a vacuum leak anywhere. we ran the cods on it and only 2 came up. one suggesting that it was the gas cap (replaced) and the other was a vacuum leak. only symptom is that if the temp is cold, if you come to a complete stop, that car will vibrate unless you put it in neutral. i cant get my tags unless i get the CEL off on this car. I'm not going back to the dealer i got the car from because the mechanics there couldn't fix a freaking sandwich!

anybody have any advice?

The car runs fine, but the CEL is on, and it vibrates when you come to a complete stop.

any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Can't help with the check engine light, but replacing the motor mounts solved my vibration at idle problem.

It might very well be the MAF..
You can try cleaning it...or just get a new one but not fom the E BAY folks.
I had a persistant CEL with fuel trim codes, I replaced the MAF INSERT and all is well.
Give German Star a shout, it costs about 150 USD

Question

It's fixed now. Turns out I needed a new battery. After the break lamp switch was replaced, my mechanic checked the diagnostic and voltage on the battery was causing it for some reason, I must admit I am a bit confused as to why my cel was on because of the battery but I have been driving the car for 3 days and no more lights on the dash. No engine codes, no vibration... Oh well. I'm just glad that's resolved. Thanks folks
