95 Mecedes C 280 Questions
Okay I have never owned a Mercedes before and am thinking of buying this 95. Is there things I should look at when looking at the car? Are there terminal faliures or things that you didnt like about the car. Whats your overall feeling of the car. What kinda mileage does the car get. Are there any good sites to look at for parts for the car.

RE: 95 Mecedes C 280 Questions
I have a '94 C280 and really like it. If you don't mind working on them a little bit you will really enjoy it. Parts are expensive but there are lots of sites that have them. It's a straight six cylinder engine and is very smooth. Go For it!

I like mine very much. There is at least one known issue with 95 C280 the wiring harnesses, which decompose prematurely, and are expensive to replace. I recently had mine replaced for $1800. Otherwise car is great.

RE: 95 Mecedes C 280 Questions
I bought my 94 c280 through my salvage yard with a bad engine, (theft recovery total loss, they ran it out of oil) stuck 90k used engine in it and have driven it 50k in 13 months. Just change the oil every 3000 to 3500 miles and keep all fluid topped and changed as needed follow owners manual for service needs, EXCEPT THE OIL CHANGES,they are too far apart. find a service shop that you like and trust to service your car. engine wiring is a night mare ( i am currently looking for a way to keep from giving my local dealer $500.00 for the harness, i will do the labor.) They are truly great cars and i am finding it hard to replace it with something else i enjoy drivng as much. Don't forget to have it checked out before you buy it and see if you can get some prior service records, good luck!! Steve James.

RE: 95 Mecedes C 280 Questions
Go for 96'or newercar to get good factory wiring harness. All these cars are prone to head gasket leaking.Bad design.Make sure it has already been replaced.I am pretty sure they updated the design to prevent repeats.Often this will happen during warranty coverage,so u should be able to get it on the maintenance records from your local dealer, who can pull it by the VIN.Also ensure that the a/c vents are working properly.Check for cold air flow from the center vents and make sure it willhold in recirc mode, this is usually the first element to go.The hvac is controlled with vacuum elements or pods under the dash that wear out.Start the car with it quiet inside and listen for a recurring whirring sound from the rear passenger side of the cabin. If it only comes ona few secondsand stops=good.cycle on/off=bad.This is the vacuum assist pump trying tomaintain vacuum against a leaking pod(s) somwhere.Which could be door lock(s),rear headrest release(s)or most likely an hvac pod(s).I have had a 96' for 1.5 years and 50,000 miles.Tinker a bit and these are sweet rides.I have 160,000 miles and runs great.I getjust shy of400 mi. a tank on the highway and300 intown, with a/c.I would recommend finding one that came with the upgraded front seats as I am suprised these cars did'nt come standard with lumbar support.Mail me any questions if you like.Peace.
