2017 c300
#2
I have a 2016 c.class that from the details says built in Manhiem, Germany on 04-05-2016 and delivered to the U.S from Manhiem , Germany on 4-29-2016. Does this mean my c.class 300 (w205) was actually built WHOLE in Germany and delivered to the U.S Plant.
Also, are there any difference between the German made engines and the ones manufactures in Alabama
Can anyone kindly clarify this???
Thank you

If your car was made in Germany it should have been shipped to a dealer not the MB plant. While it is true that Nissan in Decherd, Tennessee builds engines for Mercedes in Vince, Alambama, Nissan builds M274 four-cylinder engine for C-Class and Infiniti Q50. The W205 C-Class and Infiniti Q50 share the Mercedes-Benz MRA platform as the result of the Daimler-Nissan/Renault alliance. Q50 in many oversea markets do offer 2.0 inline-four engines as standard on gas versions, and the US will follow soon. But keep in mind that M274 is still a genuine Mercedes engine.
A bit differently, Mercedes in Europe offers OM626 diesel C-Class and GLC-Class as well as OM622 on Vito vans (Metris’ oversea counterpart). OM622/626 are collaboratively developed with Renault, which also markets these engines as Renault R9M. These engines are built in Renault’s Cléon facility. Unlike M274 which is almost exclusively used for Mercedes, with the only exception of Intiniti Q50 (next-generation QX50 may join in), Renault R9M are used on more Nissan/Renault products.
