Question 2003 C240 base P0305

I am getting a P0305 code and cannot seem to resolve the reason.

The car has around 100,000 miles.

I have
- replaced the spark plugs
- moved the coil and plug wires from cylinder 5 to cylinder
- ran 2 tanks of fuel injector cleaner
- changed gas stations
- changed position of fuel injector from cylinder 5 to 4

still getting the same P0305

The code comes on with rpm's exceeding 4,000.

Please help!!

Question Still getting P0305 code

Is there anyone out there who has any further ideas on what could be giving me this code?

Compression is fine on this cylinder.

What code is that? (im not at work this weekend so can't check it). If its a misfire code, it could be your mass air flow sensor. They have been known to cause the code to trigger. Also, check the connectors at the ME, see if there is any oil in the connectors. If there is, then you will need to replace the wire harness (not as bad as you may think).

Default Engine misfire

The P0305 is a misfire on cylinder 5. If it was a mass air flow the misfire would be random. The misfire occurs more frequently when the engine has been running for for some time (1 hour plus). Although I can force it by manually keeping the engine rpm over 4,000, by using a lower gear.

BMW mechanics have concluded it must be a broken or weak valve spring. Has MB had problems with this?

Not sure what the ME is.
