Default 2002 C240 with Break lining Wear Visit Shop, Display faulty (ESP) (ABS) (BAS)

Problem. I'm hoping not a major one. I got the kids dressed and loaded in the car today b/c I was going to pay the taxes, get the tag, and pay the insurance for the year....and much to my suprise, when I crunk the car, I got 4 malfunction messages. Break lining Wear Visit Shop, Display faulty (ESP) (ABS) (BAS). The car would not come out of park...it was locked in park. I called roadside, who gave me directions on how to manually take it out of park so I could drive it to a service center. BUT he advised me that if the transmission doesn't shift correctly, leave the car parked, and call a tow truck. I don't know the extent of what's going on. If anyone has any ideas before I have it towed that my husband could try I'd be greatly appreciated. I just had a lady hit me and totalled my Escalade. This was suppose to be a low mileage, low maintenence, good gas mileage car......I JUST bought it on Jan. 18, 2008 and it had 52K miles upon purchase. It was an off lease. So ANYTHING guys, would be wonderful. =)

yes my friend... i have exactly the same kind of problem. I have had one reply telling me to check the fusues - but these seems to be all ok.I ordered the workshop manual, 2dvds, took 3 weeks to arrrive, 4 hours to install and re-install 4times and it could not be configuredfor english language successfully. So i will probably have to also get someone to put it on a truck and ship it back to a garage... very very frustrating.

I read the manual and searched several forums. The ABS thing seems common. AND although the most help I got was from the owners manual. It seems like the brakes need to be replaced or at least that's what the car thinks. (Guess this is what we get when we let machines do a job that us humans have had no problems doing for years now.) My breaks aren't worn but b/c the computer is being told they are, the car has shut down the ABS, BAS, and ESP. AND the check engine light means something about the pollution sensor or feul system from what I can tell. Mercedes will prolly charge me my kids first year in college to fix it but it's prolly just a simple reset b/c the car was driving fine. As a matter of fact, I had just took the groceries out of the trunk and took them in and was going to get right back in it to pick up my son when all this crap started blinking at me. SO right now I have a shiny new Mercedes sparkling.....AND disabled, in my driveway. AMAZING.......

Can I have the vin number?
We had the exact same thing in our shop. Sent me almost crazyand wantingfind another job. Replaced the ESP mod. 3x's. spent weeks or should I say almost months on this thing. All in all we replace the ignition coils. Sadly the vehicle got bought back during the diag process. But the customer took the car back for a couple weeks. We figured out the coils were partly shorting and sending voltage back through the electrical system and causing the esp mod to think there is a high overvoltage and shutting down to protect itself. Just a thought but if this is paid by you if the esp mod doesn't fix the concern I would try that next. IF you dont feel comfortable with the vin just give me your email address and we'll be in touch that way.

I got the car back today and the ESP control module seems to have fixed it. =) If anything else happens, I'll post it on this thread. =)
