2002 C230 vs 2003 C230??
My sister really likes the two door c230 compressor. We have found two cars that we are interested in. One is a 2002 with 54k miles, and the other one is 2003 with 75k miles, both cars are in the same price range. After some research I found that some people do not recommend the 2002 model because the engine is noisier and it has many electrical problems also from what I have read it seems like the 2003 has a quieter engine but the electrical issues are still there.
Do you guys recommend the c230 compressor? Also which vehicle do you recommend?

I personally have owned a 2002 C230 Sport Coupe since new. While I had a number of issues with the car while under warranty, the engine and transmission have never had any problems. The supercharger is noisy immediately after a cold start but it calms down quickly once warmed up. The engine is very quick with no lag whatsoever (advantage of a supercharger over turbocharging). I have found the best driving attributes when using the "W" setting which starts the transmission in second gear. The car stops best in second gear and doesn't have as much "transmission creep".

the coupes have issues with the panorama tops and its very costly to repair and a huge job to replace them. if you have just a basic sunroof then its ok but if you go for the panarama roof make sure it works well and doesnt jam up.

I agree with Chassis221 comments concerning the cost of fixing the panorama roof. Dealership repairs would be expensive. For it falters or doesn't open correctly and completely then don't bother buying the car.
While each market around the world has different standard equipment, here in Canada the 2002 to 2006 sport coupes only came equipped with panorama roofs or nothing. Of course, I suppose an aftermarket roof could be fitted. The car is still available in Germany. (I believe).
Over the years I had a minor issue with the inner blind cover and the wind deflector both of which I was able to fix for under $50 myself. I also make sure that any part of the mechanism that I can see is keep clean and well greased.
