My cupholder wont fold down. I'm afraid I'll break it if I push too hard on it. Any suggestions?

 

Hi there,
In the cup holder system you have few gears that interact together when you fold/unfold it. I would say to check the gears and take out any small dirt that could stop the gears from interacting together.

I have the same cupholder problem on my 2004 240c. Were you able to fix yours?

 

My 1997 c230 cup holder opens fine . . . it just won't stay down!!!
Makes a fine coffee table conversation piece.
Only a few have guessed what it really is.

I've looked all over, unable to find a replacement.

you can pull it out....remove the rubber piece at the bottom of the cupholder area...the with the cuipholder in the open position, twist it clock wise and it will come out. then you can clean it out. sometimes just forcing it to close will actually work.

 

I have a 2004 C230.. same problem. Just wouldn't fold back down. Took it to the dealer and it cost $50 to replace and install. Cheapest repair to date!~
