2002 C200 W203 - Engine Conversion - Hints, Tips, Suggestions, experiences welcome
Hey Guys,
Just found this forum and seems there's a bit of knowledge around the traps.
I have a 2002 C200 Kompressor that has seen better days. The engine has 240,000+ KMS on it and alarms are starting to go off everywhere.
I can get a same engine with 40,000 on it which seems like a good idea. But then I thought about what I can put into the engine instead??
Has anyone had any experiencing in doing a transplant, what engine and what issues did you face? (Reliability, electronics etc...)
The other option is to do the transplant and then have the old C200 engine totally rebuilt. I'm think this might be a good option too.
Would any AMG C type engines fit into the 2002 with ease? I'm thinking there would be a completely different electronics package. if the loom from an AMG came with, would there be limitations in the productivity of the engine given the 2002 car and interface is far too archaic from the 2010 onwards machines.
Also I am in Melbourne, so any decent mechanic referrals would be appreciate also.
Any thoughts would be very helpful.
