2002 C 230K Maintenance Schedule
Can anyone please tell me what the required service items are for the B service. I would call the dealer but I first want to know what is required in case they try to add in additional service. The car is in great shape (except for the roof motors) and I want to keep it that way.
I have almost reached the required mileage for the service.
I purchased the car used and it did not have the owners manual. I have ordered a manual from books 4 cars but was told it will be at least another week.
Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi Mr. Coyote,
Thank you for the offer to help. The car has just over 60K miles on it.
I should have the manual in just over a week, or so I have been told.
I greatly appreciate your help and those who set up this great web site/forum.

RE: 2002 C 230K Maintenance Schedule
OK...from what I can determine from my '05 Maintenance Booklet that came with my car, the "B" service was due at approx. 52,000 miles and the "A" service is due at 65,000 miles. Anyway, the B service, should you have that done, includes changing the air filter, flush brake fluid, service panorama roof (whatever that means), oil and filter, check this and that....the battery, antifreeze, belt, etc. brakes and tires, etc. and all the usual stuff. B service also includes replacing the dust filter. If they try to sell you a fuel filter, Mercedes manual says not until 65,000 miles or 5 years. If they try to sell you spark plugs, again, the book says at 91,000 or 5 years. That's about it. Again, this is for an '05 if there's a difference, I don't know about it. Hope this helps you.

Coyote's 05 mirrors my 02 manual. There are a lot of "check" items but only a few "replace" items. My manual is Canadian so I have converted the km to miles.
"Replace" items include: Dust filter; correct battery fluid; rotate tires if same sizes, correct tire pressure; replace engine oil and filter; correct fluids in cooling system, brake system, power steering, windshield washer; lubricate catch, safety catch and hinges on engine hood; adjust headlamp aiming; replace windshield wiper rubber inserts.
Every 48,000km(30,000 miles) or 4 years adjust parking brake.
Every 80,000km(50,000 miles) or 4 years check drive shaft flex discs; retighten steering gear bolts.
Every 96,000km(60,000 miles) or 4 years replace fuel filter and air filter.
Every two years replace brake fluid.
Every 160,000km (100,000 miles) or 5 years replace spark plugs for all C models
My 02 coupe has the panoramic roof but the "service booklet" does not refer to it specifically anywhere. Since lubrication is an important part of keeping the panoramic roof in good shape MB has probably added it to the 05 service requirment.
