My 2001 C240 recently developed a problem with the rain-sensing wipers. In the automatic setting, they just run all the time....if it's raining, they're going...if it's not raining, they're still going. Because with the automatic wipers, there is only an automatic setting and an "on" setting...because the "automatic" setting is acting like the "on" setting, it's like I just don't have an intermittent setting and it is driving me crazy. Any help w/b appreciated. Thanks.

did you have the front windsheild replace? possibly a non- factory the rain sensor sys is quite simple
that little colored plastic box behind the rear view mirror is the rain sensor some time when the glass is replaced the glass guys are not the most gental or careful , also over time the rain /sun sensor optical gets
fuzzy or dirty/ better yet warped inside from heat . also it could be a short in the combo sw( master sw for the turnsignal and wiper assembly / 1 big unit) its just allowing power to go through to the motor .or possibly did the overhead control panel get replaced (OCP) it may have not been version coded for auto wiper function , there can be a lot going on best to take to a shop pay the 1hr. diag fee find out what it is its faster and saves money rather then shot gunning it . good luck

usually the motor is bad. if they sweep the windshield normally but park in the wrong spot...usually the motor is the issue. real commmon on the 203 chassis.
