Default 1999 C280 "Hi" sensor reading

I recently changed my oil, and now have my Hi oil sensor coming on while driving after a while. When I come to a stop it goes away. The oil was overfilled, then drained to the proper level. The book says that "Hi" means there is too much oil, but the dipstick level is now not even reading oil on the low level of the stick. Now I seem to have an oil leak. All of this seems to contradict everything. Could the leak be because there was too much oil for one day in the car? Could the sensor be wrong? But the sensor turns itself off and on when the car is at rest. Any help would be great. Thank you.
