04 C230 headlight change for xenons
Hello,
just got an aftermarket xenon headlights for my 04 C230. Has anyone here changed their headlights housing before? I am wondering if I will have to remove the bumper cover because there is a screw on the corner just below where the bumper meets the front fender. I removed the inner wheel well cover and was not able to see this mounting bracket. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I will try to give you enough detail I did it over a year ago on a 2003 c230K
It is not as hard as it seems once you do it once and your comfort level rises.
Keep in mind what you are looking to do is slide bumperwith grill assy off, toward front of vehicle as an assy, so keep hood open to access these screws.
After removing 1 to 3 screws and metal clipholding bumper to fender or frame from the inner wheel well look deep for a plastic wheel that slides into a wedge or groove in the frame, this holds the assy in place after attaching screws and metal clipare removed, if I remenber correctly I believe there was a screw or bolt in the center of this wheel, cannot remember clearly if I removed or loosen or even needed to, not sure which. what I did was remove the few obvious screws then with the palm of my hand tried nudging the bumper toward the front of vehicle if i felt anyresistance I looked for more screws or clips after getting free movement forward with bumper looked for screws attaching grill to frame seemed easier than removing grill from bumper. just keep in mind to look for resistence while nudging where movement is least apparent look for causeex screw bolt or clip.
Once you have freed one side and grill slide it back on and or have someone hold it in place while you diconnect the other side else you can do one side at a time but you willhave to do each side with grill to have enough room to work.
Good luckand hope this helped.
