We have an '03 C230K with only about 50k miles on it. It is a six speed and it has been a great car until a year ago.

We took it in for service to the local dealer still under warranty. They upgraded the software, which totally screwed the car up (don't know any details). Three weeks later we got the car back with the original software reloaded, not idea what the problem was.

A week ago the car essentially died. It would drive a short distance and the engine would die with various lights and errors displayed. I had it towed and they diagnosed an EMI or EMS Module (not sure of the name, but the module the manages the other electronics) and another part whcih I can't recall, but nothing seemingly related. They had to get the Module from Germany programmed to our VIN, they installed it and surprise same problem as a year ago.

I honestly don't know if my dealer is incompetent or if the car will ever run again.

Anyone have any ideas?

My '05 C230K did the exact same thing. They had to "GET ONE FROM GERMANY" as well.
But they put mine in and it has never acted up. My suggestion: take it back to them and
"suggest" that they take care of you or they will lose a Mercedes customer for life.

It has worked for me, except at the BMW dealership.
And that's why I bought the MB.

 

Well as far as taking it back, I don't have it yet. It still does not run.

As for the Honda or BMW, I suspect with the new electronics that we can have this with any of them. Wierd that it ran for 3 years without ANY problems, then a year without a problem and now they can't even get it run.
