OK we did it mortgaged the farm and bought '04 S55. Wow what a ride. Never having owned an MB we have a lot to learn. Thought one of the parking lights was burned out when we got it home - figured that one out - probably going to be the same with the rest of the bells and whistles! First question - before I ask MB has anyone had problems with larger wheels and warranty? Thanks Paul.

 

Look very carefully at the amount of room you have in the wheel wells, both on the strut side and the outside. You'll need to maintain the stock 44 mm offset and the same tire diameter and section width. I've not heard of a warranty problem, but it is critical that the diameter of the fronts match the rears. You'll find that the stock sizes (245/45 front, 265/40 rear) are very close in diameter. If you really don't like the stock split spoke wheels and want to sell them, let me know.....

Thanks Kerno. The car came with 20in wheels and Pilot Sports 245/35 285/30. I put back the original AMG's which have Alpins mounted. The odd thing is they are all 8.5in. The plan is to sell the 20 inchers and two of the 8.5 AMG. Buy two 9in AMG and new ?? not sure yet. Paul

 

That's weird all 8.5? it's not staggered, u sure that is stock rims that came with the car? you have AMG right.
