Default SL55 Brakes

The front brakes dust the wheels 8 to 9 times thicker than the rear wheels. Is this normal? Are there brake pads available that would reduce the dust build up? Can the brake pad pressure be checked to determine if the front and back are getting the correct pressures? I need some background before talking with the MB dealer.

Default RE: SL55 Brakes

Usually the front-end accounts for approx. 75% of your braking power, therefore that's why you see more brake dust on the front than you do the rear. Your front pads will also wear out quicker than the rears because of the same reason.

You can purchase some aftermarket pads that claim they throw less dust, but I've never had any luck finding a set that wouldn't squeel. So for me .. I'll stick with the dust of the OEM pads.

just my .02 cents worth

Cheers
