Default Missfire on 2001 ML55AMG

My ML55AMG has the engine check light on.

I've had it on the computer and I'm told its a missfire on 4 & 8.

I've changed the plugs, leads, coil packs & injectors and still have the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem. Please help.

The engine is shaking (almost stalling) when the fault appears. Once I switch the engine off then back on the car runs perfectly until I accelerate hard again then the fault re appears. The engine check light always comes on as the fault is stored in memory.

try draining all the fuel and replace with good one (wait till the tank almost empty to refill).

I'll give it a go. It shouldn't take too long to get through the fuel I have. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Did you ever find the fix? I'm having the same problem with my 2000 E55. Drives fine all of the time, except when throttle wide open and the car shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear. Throws a misfire cylinder 3 code & car runs like crap. Shut it off, wait a couple of minutes, then the car runs fine. My Mercedes mechanic (a friend of mine) is stumped. He's tried new sparkplugs, cleaning, etc. Still does the same thing. He's thinking the next thing to try is swapping out the ECM, but that's going to be a big dollar attempt to fix. We've gone through several tanks of gas, by the way, since working this issue (been working it for 3 or 4 months now).

Had a problem with mine. I realized that the honeycomb in my catalytic converter had broken off and lodged itself in a place where it obstructed the exhaust flow. I tapped the exhaust
with the rubber hammer and then had the exhaust folks remove the convertor.
