RE: McLaren SLR OMG!
I think the SLR McLaren will only be available in South Africa, at least the first year. Is the steering wheel on the wrong side on South African cars?
I want side exhaust like it has on my SL. I guess the motor wouldn't be a bad thing for my SL either.

RE: McLaren SLR OMG!
The SLR is sold through Mercedes dealers here in the U.S. It is also listed on mbusa.com (MSRP $452,500)
Since Mercedes showed the concept Vision SLR few years back, the steering wheel has always been on the left.
SLR is manufactured McLaren's new facility (guess where the money came from..) in U.K.
Roughly 3,700 SLRs will be produced over 7-year production. (There are no right-hand drive versions planned)
More the one-third of the total production will end up in the U.S.
The event in South Africa was backed by the decades-long relationship between Mercedes and S.A government. (Mercedes has invested billions of dollars on manufacturing plants).

Left hand steering.
Thanks MioCLK, I was wondering about some of the production numbers- keep hearing different things. I beleive 90 will come into the US in the first year, does this sound right to you?

RE: McLaren SLR OMG!
90 would be reasonable for 2004, since Mercedes-Mclaren began delivering the SLR in late 2004.
This year, it'll probably be around 200.
U.S. usually account for one-third (1/3) to one-half (1/2) of total prodtuction of these high-end vehicles.
