Hello!

I'm a complete n00b on these forums so please be kind! I'm in the navy, training to be a diver. My dad owns a 1992 300SL with the straight 6 and a 5spd manual. The relative obscurity of the 5spd in this car I love. We're looking at performance mods, as I'll be buying the vehicle from him when my time in the service is up. Ive oft wondered if the engine in the C36 could be swapped in as it seems like it'd be a relatively straightforward project. Super or turbocharging has crossed our minds, and I'm no stranger to turbo work as my ride is an '03 VW GTi 1.8turbo that's rather modified. The main point of our mods (so far brembo brakes, lowered with eibach springs and dampers, computer chip and a killer stereo) are to keep the car 100% streetable and not give up the manual tranny. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Can an AMG 3.6liter I6 be bought anywhere? Would it be beyond reasonable to mod the stock six cylinder to be that powerful? Can the swap be done? Anywhere else I might find some info? The SL we have is immacualte, it's just begging to have more oomph. Thanks guys, appreciate any advice/help you can offer!
