whats this all about then????
c220cdi avante Y plate ....went over one of those seriously high speed bumps (the square ones) and this has resulted in snapping part of the suspension as image... I have removed the part as it makes a serious clank when driving.. a couple of questions....
is the car OK to drive to be repaired?
what is the part?
What does it do?
even though I have removed the part there is still a thudding when i go over the slightest of bumps... is the shocker knackered?
thanks all

RE: whats this all about then????
Hi,
Sway bar = Anti roll bar in UK.
Picture is very small so can't see exactly what you have done but it looks like the outboard end of the bar is still present.
If it is"clanking" it is potentially doing damage.
The roll bar runs from one side of the car to the other,
It permits both wheels to go into "bump" or "rebound simultaneously but resists one wheel doing this independent of the other. This is what happens when you corner quickly.
IF the complete roll bar has been removed it MAY be ok to drive the car BUT on some lower cost models the roll bar acts as a main suspension control arm and if so the suspension is not fully fixed without it.
If the bump was big enough to break the roll bar (hope you are going to make a claim for the damage) you should also ensure other suspoension components are OK.
Suggest you get somebody on the ground to tell you whether you can drive the car to the dealer.
Safe vs Sorry.
