Default what will my mercedes 220d engine fit into?

What will my mercedes 220d engine fit into? I have a complete car but it needs a lot of work on the body. What years, what models?

What year car do you have? The engine should fit into any car from the same series.

I would try and find a diesel car from the same body series as there is a great deal of difference in the wiring and vacuume systems between diesel cars and gasoline cars.

Also watch out for transmission differences. The differences between auto and stick will be found in the flywheel, the drive-shaft and the rear-end. Also, don't think you can just swap flywheels. During this time the flywheels and the cranks were assembled and balanced as a unit. Besides, the bolt pattern at the end of the crankshaft is different as well.

By the way, what you are trying to do is very common and should be easy once you get the right information.

You will be looking for a 114 series car. They were built from 1968 to 1972.

Check the floorboards for rust. The rears are the worse. A lot of dealers at this time sprayed on an "undercoat" in order to bump up the profit. This rubber type substance peels away and traps water which then leads to rust.

Good luck!
