Hi,
here is my problem: my engine rpm are too high when operating in last gear, around 4000 rpm is needed to do 90 kmh / 55 mph . It shifts fine, smoothly, doesn't jerk, doesn't make noises, use oil, smell, or any other symptoms. It does shift into 4th gear and it doesn't slip under full acceleration. Typical rpm when shifting under moderate power is 3000 rpm, and under kick-down it is 6000 as expected. No slippage under non-kickdown conditions. The car also feels decently powered. But, in 4th gear engine rpm is still 4000 rpm. It used to be 3600 rpm when I bought the car 6 years ago and now it has crept higher. I can't find this symptom anywhere on the internet apparently... Any ideas for the cause? Torque converter?
