Vito 108 CDI problems
Hello - first time post as just become a Vito owner.
I've only had the van a week and I would be most grateful if anybody could help point me in the right direction to sorting a few teething problems I'm having.
The van is a 1999 108CDI. The van had a new cat a couple of months before I bought it and new brakes.
The glow plug light won't go out. I've taken them all out and tested them and found one to be faulty so I replaced it - but the light still comes back on after the engine has started. Does the ECU need resetting or might it be the relay? Where is the relay?
The rev counter isn't working.Any ideas?
The van drives really nicely, but sometimes after driving for about 40 minutes it loses power and the turbo cuts out. The turbo seems to cut out at about 2500rpm (just guessing as the rev counter doesn't work!) and acceleration is really slow. Other times it will do it after you have only been driving for 10 minutes or so if you take it past 70mph.
Someone has suggested that maybe the exhaust. is blocked with bits of the old cat, others have suggested a problem with the MAF - only trouble is I can't find a MAF anywhere between the airbox and the manifold - am I looking in the wrong place?
Finally the radio keeps going back into safe mode. The previous owner had a CD player in and took it out when selling the van and put the original cassette player back in.
Sorry for the long post, but I really like the van and would love to get these little ****les sorted.
Many thanks
