Default V-class dashboard problem

Hi,
I'm from Belgium and new to this forum. I drive a 2001 Mercedes V-class 220 CDI, and unlike many people here, I haven't had any problems with my car, UNTIL NOW. The problem started about a week ago, when I was driving, ALL the lights (battery, brakes, ...) flashed on for a brief second and then went out again. Also my fuel-meter sometimes decided that my fuel tank was empty, while it was full. When I restarted the car it was fine again. NOW my fuel-meter seems to be functioning again and I also haven't had the flashing lights for a while, but now I have a problem that lasts: my digital display (clock, temp., distance) doesn't seem to be working anymore and the lighting of my instrument cluster doesn't work anymore. The other dashboard lights work fine. Can anyone help me please???

Default RE: V-class dashboard problem

I had that problem with my Vito 2001 van dash over the course of 4 months ,just getting worse coming and going until it finallly failed.
the fuel gauge'full and empty'is the starting signal for this fault.
While this was happening I took it into a mercedes garagefor a diagnostic check, and the mechanic said to me quietly thatit was a common problem with the computer processor in the dashboard cluster replacement of dash is an option 400-800 Euro.
Or contact a company in UK called BBA
click on this link and contact them :£35 to look at it or £175 to fix ,good luck
