I want to repurpose the GPS antenna (Tel-Aid) that I am not using for use as a satellite radio antenna with my XM radio. I have a 2001 SLK320. Does anyone know if this can be done? The dealer tells me that if I disconnect the GPS antenna the radio won't work -- or worse!

I need some advice from someone who knows a bit about this or who has sucessfully disconnected the antenna without any bad consequences.
