Transmission Problem - 2004 CLK 55 AMG
I have a 2004 CLK 55, 81K miles. A little over a year ago I took my car into the dealership. The transmission at about 1800 rpm would make a shuddering/vibration feel and noise in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear as the rpms would pass 1800 rpms. It was repeatable and I was able to demonstrate the condition to the shop manager. The shop found coolant in the transmission. They flushed the transmission and replaced the torque converter. It seemed OK after that.
Now about a year later the car lurches when it hits 1800 rpm if you slowly increase the rpms in 1st and second gear. It is not a rough shift because if I leave it in 1st gear only and slowly increase the rpms from 1500 to 2000 rpm, it will lurch when I hit 1800 rpm. It feels like maybe this is happening when the converter is supposed to be locking? I hope maybe the transmission just needs to be retrained and not replaced. The car is out of warrantee now so I don't feel like being raped by the dealer. Any suggestions, comments, similar stories?
Thanks for your time.
