top button and roll bar lights stay on????

top button and roll bar lights stay on????
1997 SL500.
Went out to the garage today, started the car (runs fine) and the top lowering button and the roll bar switch glow a steady Red. They are also inoperable.
Went through the manual to no avail, tried re-synching the windows, disconnecting the battery and reconnecting - nothing worked.
Any ideas?
