Last winter I started my 1991 300D and there was a strange odor coming out of the vents. It smelled like a very hot electronic component. Now the air conditioning does not work. I am wondering if there is a common problem like this. The heater still works and the automatic temperature control still works.
There is a good charge of freon in the system but the compressor never engages.
