Hi,
The spanner means that you need to get the car serviced.
1 spanner = A type service, 2 spanners B.
A and B service have different schedules.
The spanner is part of the ASSYST system which monitors driving style and determines the optimum point (according to MB) for the car to be serviced.
I notice that your warning states 000000 which means zero miles to go before the service. (Strange that you took the picture at exactly 0000.) This counter can be accessed at any time by turning the ignition key to the correct position, having the door open etc. so it is feasible that you can see - 5000 or + 6000 (miles) etc.
Maybe your system is not working correctly or has been turned off by the dealer.

It is also possible that the number of days to go, or past, is shown instead of mileage if you are a very low mileage type driver.

The point at which the oil needs to be changed seems to be a debatable point in the USA due to a recent class action regarding the use of oils NOT recommended by MB causing engine damage. The ASSYST system is based on the use of premium grade fully synthethic oils (e.g. Mobil 1) and long life oil filters. Many people in the USA want or believe they need to change their oil at much more frequent intervals and prefer to use non synthethic grade oils (cheaper).

Maybe there is a policy that ASSYST is no longer used in the USA due to the problem associated with the extended service intervals and the use of incorrect oils? I notice that your ML is a relatively new vehicle. ASSYST works just fine in Europe but different customs and practices around the world can cause problems.

You can get more info regarding ASSYST from the Internet or possibly your MB owners manual should this topic still be covered.

Hope this helps.

Stuart

Hi Stuart!
Thanks for good information. Actually the picture I post in my question, I scan it from the owner manual the right # is flashing is 2700
The car is 74.000 Km and the dealer change the oil 2 days ago but they don't know how to reset the meter. they told me go to MB dealer to reset it.
Any Idea how to reset?

2700 means that you have serviced the car 2700 miles (or whatever units your system is set up for) earlier than required. -2700 would mean you are 2700 miles overdue.

Since the oil job was done by a non MB shop are you sure they have used the right oil especially if you rely on ASSYST to tell you when your next change is due?

I'm not sure of the exact procedure to reset the ASSYST on your model. It is usually in the owner manual.
Typically you have to turn the ignition to 1 and then press the Trip Rest button for 10 secs or similar.

Ask again on the forum. What is the ASSYST reset procedure is for ML350 m/y 200?.

Regards,

Stuart
