SEC 380 Fuel Problem
1982 SEC 380-Turns over for a few second after I use starter spray, but doesn's seem to be getting enough gas. Replaced the fuel filter, same results. The car was a sitting for a year with little gas in it. Could it be the fuel pump, bad gas or both? Any Suggestions?
Do you kown where the fuel distributor is ( its that round peice under air cleaner with all the fuel like comming into it from injectors. when ever the car sits more than 2-3 days in these old cis systems they tend to rust upor just become blocked, since yours sits along time i would drain the fuel tank from the bottom remove main fuel like and unscrew the big nut(46mm) get all that stuff out the replace with fresh 92 octane min 4 gal add 1/2 bottle barryman fuel injector system cleaner or chevron techron bottle then you need another guy and batt charger on car start engine with air cleaner off break open the injector fuel lines 1 at a time (JUST CRACK THEM LOOSE ) SPRAY ALITTLE STARTING FLUID INSIDE INTAKE ENOUGH TO KEEP CAR RUNNING , and tap on fuel line with end of the 13mm wrench the gas should be clear if its dark /rusty wait till clear then close line and do same to all the rest. The problems with the m116/m117 motors(is what you have) the rubber used gets hard and leaks and the co adjustment goes out of wack. it could be $$$ to get it normal shape so do this first. just get the car to run then take to shop to adjust lamda . when done replace fuel filter and if car is over 100k the fuel pump will need to be replaced
