s/w switch next to gearshift
i dont own a kompressor but an acquintance is driving a rental to nyc tomorrow and wants to know what the s/w switch is. I haven't even seen it; just wanted to help him out.

The S stands for "Standard", which the transmission will start shifting from the 1st gear.
W stands for "Winter", once W is chosen, the transmission starts with 2nd gear to increase traction.

You use the switch in the S position for all normal driving conditions.
Use the W when you are driving under slippery road conditions like in
heavy rain or snow to get better tracktion.
Using W otherwise will only increase your fuel consumption.
