Does anyone know if you can put 20" rims on a 2004 C230 Sedan. Will it messed up the ride.

First let me say that I don't have a 2004 body style C230, but rather a 2000 C230 Kompressor that I purchased with aftermarket rims. The stock 16" (sport) rims were replaced with 18" rims and the car looks very nice. However, it does ride pretty rough for a Mercedes (especially compared to the loaner cars I get from the dealer when it is being serviced).

I would avoid 20" rims and the almost paper thin side walls that are required to run such a big wheel. It may look "cool", but your ride will be harsh, not to mention how easily the wheels will be damaged if you hit a good, deep, pot hole.

Fortunately the guy I bought the car from saved his original rims and I'm going to mount them up in a few weeks. The rough ride does get tiresome, especially over long distances.

I neglected to offer another suggestion in my last post. Would smaller wheels be of interest to you? I'd suggest 18" or smaller AMG wheels. They look very nice on a Mercedes in my humble opinion. If I did not have the original rims, I'd probably put a set of 17" AMG "mono-blocks" on my car. It would be a compromise between the somewhat radical 18" wheels and the stock ones.

I found a pretty good deal at tirerack.com's site. You can even get optional wider rear wheels if that appeals to the performance side of your brain.

Just my $0.02 worth, YMMV.
