Hi,

I have recently retrofitted a Command to my 2001 E55. I agree details for the w210 are not so common. I managed to get a TIS CD of eBAy which detailed much of the dashboard disasembly necessary to fit the reinforcing bracket which supports the Command unit - it took me about 2 hours from start to finish once I new what I was doing!!

I got the necessary wiring modifications of the net and made my own wring loom.

I am waiting to get my system coded by my MB dealer. So far everything works (CD auto, radio, steering controls and dash display) with the exception of Navi function. At present it is not getting speed information (via can bus) so the NAVI map only updates every minute or so using GPS data. Unless you are lucky (ie got a Command from the right car) you will need to get your dealer to code the command for your car. I will let you know how long it takes and how much!!

Total costs for the upgrade:

£450 for the command (eBay)
£180 for new double din fascia replacement
£20 for connectors and new reinforcing bracket for command
£50 for GPS areial (internally mounted)

Intetested in your upgrade experience once completed, perhaps we should compare notes.

I haven't started the install yet, actually doing it over the holidays - provided I receive the outstanding parts on order.

I would be interested in step-by-step instructions that you may have considering you've recently done yours.

I do, however have some questions for all who might know the answers . . .

How should I wire plugs to the approporiate pins to get the input (audio & video) to show up, and where does it show up?

Does Garmin software work on the device?
